Was ist osCommerce ?
osCommerce ist eine Open Source E-Commerce Lösung unter ständiger Weiterentwicklung durch die Open Source Gemeinde. Durch seine Eigenschaft, dass es out-of-the-box installiert werden kann, sind Shopbetreiber in der Lage, mit minimalem Aufwand und ohne weitere Kosten, ihren Online-Shop selbst aufzusetzen und zu verwalten.
osCommerce kombiniert weitverbreitete Open Source Lösungen um eine freie und offene Entwicklungsplattform zur Verfügung zu stellen, welche PHP, eine spezielle Skriptsprache für dynamische Webseiten, Apache, den extrem stabilen Webserver, und MySQL, den sehr schnelle Datenbankserver, umfasst.
Ohne Einschränkungen oder spezielle Anforderungen läuft osCommerce auf jedem Webserver der PHP und MySQL unterstützt. Daher kann osCommerce auf Webservern mit Betriebssystemen wie Linux, Solaris, BSD, Microsoft Windows, und Mac OS X gleichermassen eingesetzt werden.
Seit dem Start des Projekts im März 2000 ist osCommerce zu einer mächtigen Lösung herangereif, die von Tausenden Shop-Betreibern in der ganzen Welt eingesetzt wird.
Mittlerweile hat osCommerce ein neues Niveau erreicht. Es entwickelt sich zunehmend zu einem E-Commerce Framework, welches nicht nur einfach in der Einrichtung und Verwaltung bleibt, sondern es Shop-Betreibern darüber hinaus vereinfacht, ihren Shop an die individuellen Bedürfnisse ihrer Kunden anzupassen.
